Orphan reception at Cupcini Church

Monday, October 12th, 2009

In the city of Cupcini there is a state-run orphanage with 60 orphans and two technical schools with 240 other orphans. We believe God has brought all of these children and teens to Cupcini for us to minister to them as the Word of God teaches us in the book of James 1:27: Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress. We count it pure joy and honor to minister to orphans in our city.

On October 11, we organized a special reception for twelve orphans who live in our city. The reception was at Cupcini First Christian Church and prepared by our church members. More people from the church wanted to help then needed. Women prepared different dishes and brought to the church to feed 12 kids from the Technical School.

On Sunday, after the morning church service, 12 boys and girls from the Technical School were invited to the reception. Several church members served at the table and helped everyone feel as welcomed as possible.

The heart of this project was Rodica Caraus, a lady from Cupcini First Christian Church who loves the Lord and teaches several Bible Studies per week and works with these orphans every day. Many times she invited them to her home and shared God’s word with them.  Rodica presented a Bible lesson at the reception based on the Parable of the sower and the seeds from Matthew 13:3-23. The lesson was presented with drawings that Rodica made during teaching. Everybody was so interested to hear the truth about how this story Jesus told applied to their lives.

At the end, everybody received a package with gifts for everyday needs: notebooks, crayons, pens, pencils, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorants, socks and even cookies and fruits. Satisfaction filled the hearts of the boys and girls who were glad to receive this help and attention, and our brothers and sisters were glad to be tools in God’s hand to show the love of Jesus to these precious souls!

As result, two of the 12 who attended the reception decided to go on a short-term church planting mission to Cahul, South Moldova and minister alongside the Moldova for Christ team that worked there for two weeks. Maxim and Nicolai are on the list for the next baptism in Cupcini. And a new Precept Bible study group was started with this group that meets weekly for the study of the Word, prayer and fellowship at Rodica’s home.

We thank God for the “Praying Friends” Ministry from Chattanooga, TN and for “Agape Puppets” Ministry from Atlanta, GA for partnering with us in this project and for making this outreach possible. Please continue to pray for more than 200 orphans who live and study in Cupcini as we continue our ministry to them daily.

Gospel of John taught in Public School

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Special Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year in Moldova on the first Sunday of October. It is the day when many students and even grownups thank their present or even former teachers.

Usually, people give a nice bucket of flowers and a small present, like a small box of candy or chocolate. Many people in churches thank their Bible teachers and pastors for the effort and sacrifice of teaching and training others.

Another tradition on this holiday in public high schools is to ask 12th graders to teach the whole day to smaller kids in school, and teachers get a day off to rest or just assist the lesson, but they do not have to teach.

Our youth are using this opportunity to teach the Word of God in public schools. When they are given a class to teach, they do a Precept Bible Study lesson with the whole class. Depending on the subject, they are supposed to teach the lesson that is chosen.

Alexander Cocetov from Briceni, a member of our Word of Life Christian Church, was given an opportunity to teach to the fourth grade. He prayed for this opportunity and was so glad to find out he could share the Word of God with 25 other children. The Bible study he chose was from the Gospel of John, chapter one, verses 1-18.

There are more than 200 Jehovah’s Witnesses in the city who do not believe Jesus is God. They claim He was just an angel, created by God the Father, so this text clearly shows that Jesus is God. So, it was a very good lesson to study with children.

Everybody enjoyed the lesson so much that they asked Alexander to come back and to do more Bible study with them.  After hearing how well the Bible study was received, a teacher came to Alexander during a break and asked for his notes to teach the Bible in his class as well.

First Evangelistic Meeting in Chislea

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I will also make You a light of the nations, so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.                                                  Isaiah 49:6

Many times, our God works in the ways that are different from what we expect and what we plan. One of the examples is how God has lead Moldova for Christ Ministry to start new work in the remote village of Chislea in Telenesti county.

It all started at a Youth Sports Evangelistic camp in Cupcini when a young guy came and joined the group. His name is Vasile, and when he came he did not know the Lord but decided to come in order to learn to fight and beat up several guys in his village. The Lord groped his heart when he heard the Gospel and surrendered to Jesus! Vasile came home a changed person and began witnessing about Jesus to his family and friends in the village.

Listening to the Word of God

Listening to the Word of God

On January 15, the Lord blessed us with opportunity of visiting Vasile’s village, the village of Chislea. People enlisted for this mission project and a van with six men went to the village to present God’s Word to Vasile’s family. The trip was not exactly what we expected it to be because as soon as we got into the village and tried to drive on the road with no pavement our van got completely stuck in the mud. We got out of the van and tried to push it out of the mud swamp, but we were unsuccessful. It took several village people more in to get our van on the road back.

We still had a distance to travel in order to get to the house where the meeting was to be held. With guitar and Bibles we traveled on a horse cart several more blocks almost getting stuck in the mud again. Finally, we got to Vasile’s house! We were so glad to finally see the family who waited for us half of the day! They fasted and did not eat until we got into their home and read the Bible together. The whole family gave up all their work and gathered around the Word of God.

Liviu, thinking about the Gospel

Liviu, thinking about the Gospel

We started with songs and testimonies of how God changed us and gave us new hearts through faith in Jesus Christ. Then we read from the Gospel of John, chapter three, where Jesus speaks about new birth with Nicodemus:

Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3).

Everybody listened with such a hunger for the Word of God that we continued the meeting in a room filled with people who assisted at an evangelical meeting for the first time in their lives. After three hours of meeting in their home and in their village, they were ready to take a break and offered a meal with fresh, homemade pastry with cheese and potato right from the oven. We were also offered a national drink, called compot. But the spiritual food from the Word of God came first.

The fellowship, songs and testimonies continued during late lunch when we were able to answer many questions about the Bible the family had. They invited us to come back at any time and continue to study the Word of God. Vasile’s sister and niece were saved and now they are planning to join the church. Please pray for the village of Chislea as we follow up on this new church plant in the village dominated by the Russian Orthodox Church, and the village that never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ presented before.

As we were leaving the village we took the horse cart first, and we were able to drive our van on the edge of the village. As we were leaving, many people were on the road, trying to find out who visited the village. With some of them we were able to stop and shake hands and to other we just waved. But all of them are in our hearts now, as people who are precious in God’s eyes and for whom Jesus died on the cross in order to bring them back into His family.

Welcome to Moldova for Christ website!

Monday, January 28th, 2008

sashaIt is with great joy we welcome you to our web site! For a long time we have dreamed and prayed for this day, and finally our Lord has provided for it!

We hope this site will be a blessing to you. As we share with you our heart and passion for the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, we will also keep you up to date as to what God is doing, not only throughout Moldova , but in the other countries where we work as well.

The people of Moldova face tremendous hardships, discouragement and difficulties. They see no hope for their lives or their country. Although there is much to accomplish for God’s kingdom, we praise Him for the work He is doing in all of our satellite churches, Bible studies, and ministry locations that were started and are led by members of our church. To God be the glory for what He has done, what He is doing and what He will do.

Please prayerfully consider joining our efforts in bringing the country of Moldova to the Lord Jesus Christ!

He truly is the world’s only hope!

Blessings to you.
